How to Bootstrap Your ServiceNow Experience
Yo! CJ here from the CJ & The Duke podcast, formally jumpstarting my new ServiceNow newsletter and bringing you the latest from ServiceNow land. One of the things I love about the ServiceNow ecosystem is the sheer number of folks making content, answering questions, and generally just making themselves helpful to everyone - old and new.
So to kick us off, I’m going to pay homage and highlight 10 of the folks (in no particular order) that I follow religiously to stay on top of all things ServiceNow.
Robert “The Duke” Fedoruk - Robert knows everyone who is anyone in the ServiceNow space! A prolific content creator with a YouTube channel, newsletter, podcast, and very active LinkedIn & Twitter presences - The Duke is the manifestation of ServiceNow value. Tune in.
Chuck Tomasi - Chuck says on his website: “I learn, I share, I change lives” - No. Lies. Detected. Chuck is a ubiquitous ServiceNow presence from his YouTube content to every Community thread you’ve ever needed to read - he’s everywhere and leaves tremendous value in his wake. Where does he find the time? I don’t know - I’m just glad that he does. He’s a must follow.
Jace Benson - The definition of cool content. His news aggregator will show you all the news that’s fit to print in the ServiceNow ecosystem. His developer insights will make you realize that he’s operating on a wholly different level while his helpful demeanor will motivate you to follow his lead. Check him out.
Mark Scott, The Phoenix Developer - NowLearning architect and eclectic, exciting host of his own podcast, Mark Scott is a friendly voice that’s always eager to help. Mark is one of the best and someone you should know.
Tim Woodruff, The Professor - Blogger, Tweeter, AUTHOR. Tim has literally written the book on ServiceNow. In fact, he’s done it several times. His ServiceNow books belong on the desk of anyone in the industry and his ServiceNow website is full of gems. What else is there to say? Find him, follow him.
WomenNow - A great combination of tech & advocacy - tune in for both. Founded by ServiceNow Developer MVPs Paige Duffey and Maria Gabriela Waechter (MGOPW), they focus on providing kick ass ServiceNow info combined with a mission of promoting more women in tech - and I’m here for it. Come for the tips, stay for the mission (or vice versa). Change the world.
The DevMVP Blog - Featuring The Legend - Brad Tilton , Earl Duque (how cool is his name?), & Chuck Tomasi (I told you he was everywhere). These guys have collectively forgotten more about ServiceNow than most people will ever learn. And what they know and share is always an interesting read.
Maik Skoddow - OK, I don’t know where he finds most of the tips he shares but OMG are they incredibly useful. I think he plugs into the code Matrix-style and wakes up every morning with a Neo-like “I know cool new features.” Stop reading if your response is anything other than “Show Me”.
Ashley Snyder - Her work on the ServiceNow Next Experience Center of EXCELLENCE is extraordinary useful and insanely awesome. But don’t stop there, her blog is crazy good too. If you’re working with anything other than the native ServiceNow UI - and who isn’t? - she’s a must read.
GlideFast - Shoutout to Mike! The GlideFast YouTube channel is one of the best out there - bar none. Especially if you’re a beginner. Even if you’re not. Check it out - So. Much. Content. It’s a firehose. Drink up.
ServiceNow is more than just the influencers. Here are a few things of value that don’t quite fit the above box:
SNDevs Slack Channel - This is where all the cool kids hang out i.e. everyone. If you’re not there, get there. Seriously, this is a great community full of folks eager to help you fix whatever issue you have and happy to just shoot the breeze otherwise. I love it here.
ServiceNow DevMVPs - The best of the best of the best, sir! We’re chosen for our contributions to the community. That means we like helping, creating content, and would love to connect with you. I’m honored to be a member.
Community MVPs - See DevMVPs - Same as above but these folks can also swim and fly a plane. At the same time. Seriously, the ServiceNow Community is an awesome public service and the folks who live there providing help are an invaluable resource. The Platform wouldn’t be the Platform without them. Get to know them. And thank them for their service.
CJ & The Duke Podcast - Can’t leave this list without at least a little self-promotion. Join us every week on CJ & The Duke for an entertaining look into all things ServiceNow from Architecture to Consulting, to dream budgets and project management. We’re covering everything that’s fit to print…err speak and many things that aren’t.😎
Finally, if you’re a fan of the podcast or about to be a fan of the podcast, CJ & The Duke are doing a LIVE event in Philly on April 14th! We’re partnering with Oscar Technology for a FREE thought-leadership & networking event where we take on the topic of ‘If I could do it all over again!’ - A ServiceNow Career Perspective. It’s going to be a blast and if you’re in the Philly area or willing to travel, come and check us out - we’d love to see you!
